Our story began when we were just sixteen, at Jump Street trampoline park, where Lewis worked. Neither of us could have known then that a chance meeting between two teenagers would become the beginning of everything.
We didn’t exchange numbers that day. But a month later, Lewis managed to get Jamie’s number from a friend and sent her a message. From that very first text, we haven’t gone a day without talking.
Our first official date was at Yo! Sushi. Lewis arrived with a £20 note he’d found on the way there, perhaps not the most glamorous start to a love story, but somehow, entirely fitting. What mattered was that it was the beginning of thousands of memories still to come.
Not long after, over pizza one evening, Jamie told Lewis that she thought she was falling in love with him. There was something about him that felt different. Something familiar. Something that felt like home.
And from there, we simply grew up together.
We’ve been by each other’s side through every high and low, watching each other change, grow and become the people we are today. We’ve supported one another’s ambitions, celebrated the milestones and, perhaps most importantly, found happiness in the ordinary moments in between.
From our first holiday, opening our salon and buying our first home, to quiet evenings, weekends away and all the little moments that never make it into photographs, our favourite part has always been doing life together.
Then, on a beautiful sunrise in Gran Canaria, surrounded by sand dunes with just the two of us, Lewis asked Jamie to spend the rest of her life with him.
It was simple, private and completely ours, and the perfect beginning to the next part of our story.
Ten years after two sixteen year olds first met, we find ourselves preparing to become husband and wife.
We feel incredibly lucky to have grown up together, fallen in love and built a life that feels so completely ours.
And now, on our tenth anniversary, we get to make the promise we’ve been growing towards all along.
